Compton is a fine lace in the Madras weave. Madras Curtains differ from Nottingham Lace, as they are created in a two-step process that begins with a fine layer of woven scrim to which a pattern is then appliqued. The resulting heavily textured panel enhances the design in a lush manner. The term Madras was derived from its origin in the Indian city of that name; it is now woven exclusively in Scotland.
